US Army Evaluated ZipThaw

The US Army Institute of Surgical Research compared ZipThaw to traditional water baths for thawing frozen glycerolized red blood cells.

The Results: ZipThaw out-performed baths across three categories. ZipThaw is also easier to use and cheaper per thaw.

  • Signifcantly better post-thaw RBC yields
  • Reduction of hemolysis in thawed RBC product
  • Improved oxygen carrying capacity of each unit of thawed RBC’s

The US Army Institute of Surgical Research concludes that ZipThaw is proven to deliver better results than water baths.
