Our Mission
FreMon Scientific is dedicated to the safe and efficient processing and use of lifesaving blood, plasma and tissue products. FreMon Scientific creates platforms and devices that are easy to use, fast, low cost and enable inventory management.
History
The FreMon Scientific founders have decades of experience in the development of patented biomedical devices including blood processing, cryopreservation, imaging and management systems, among other fields.
The co-founders have formed and managed medical enterprises valued over $100MM during their long tenures in the healthcare industry.
Team
Frederick J. Thacher
Co-Founder, Chairman and President
Fred has 35+ years of medical service and device experience where he developed and expanded specialty health facilities in the US and Europe. He served as a logistics consultant at AliMed Corp. He was a consultant of International Business Development at Thermogenesis Corp. where he built and serviced a distribution network of partners in the EU, Middle East, Asia and Africa. He has a B.S. degree from Boston University, a Certificate in Finance from Stanford University and Certificate in Planning from the Wharton School. Fred is a veteran awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Air Medal.
Moni Shavit
Co-Founder, CTO, Board Members
An engineer with years of experience in technology and business, development, marketing, R&D and engineering of medical devices and systems, Moni held positions as VP of R&D in ThermoGenesis Corp., Sr. Director of engineering at BioGenics Corp, VP of R&D & BD at MediVision Medical Imaging systems and VP of R&D at AFP Imaging Corp. Moni earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electronics and Bio-Medical from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. Moni is the author of all FMS patents and co-author of medical devices and is credited with the development of more than 20 medical devices in imaging, blood banking and cardiovascular clinical use.
Linda Fabian
National Accounts Director
With more than 25+ years as a sales and healthcare executive, Linda has been involved in the Insurance and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) industries. Linda has a medical background with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and maintains a Registered Pharmacist license in the State of Arizona. She has worked for a number of startup companies and has led their sales growth. Linda was instrumental in the development of FlexRx, a mail order pharmacy operation, which was ultimately acquired by Merck-Medco. Throughout her career, Linda has been involved in all aspects of sales, marketing, and administration. Linda is excited to share the revolutionary technology that the ZipThaw device brings to accounts nationwide. Linda resides in Scottsdale, Arizona
William Davey
VP, Product Management and Design
Will Davey is a clinical lab and blood banking specialist with deep industry knowledge and experience. He worked over 10 years in medical center and hospital blood banks, 15 years with the American Red Cross in blood center operations including recruitment, automated collection and apheresis, component manufacturing and quality control. He also served for several years with TerumoBCT on the vendor side as Global Product Manager for the Trima apheresis device and automated Whole Blood Separation systems. Most recently, Will worked for over 8 years at the San Diego Blood Bank overseeing component manufacturing, lean systems design and development and research services. Will has a BA in Biological Science, BS in Clinical Laboratory Medicine and Medical Technology, and an MBA in Marketing and Business Operations. All from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan.
Nabeel Ebeid
Nabeel is an experienced tech strategy and operations manager with a background encompassing Financial Evaluations, Capital Structure & Planning, and Venture Capital. He’s a graduate of the University of Chicago with a BA in Math, and he holds an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. He’s skilled in Financial Modeling, Corporate Finance, Valuation, Analytics, Marketing Strategy, Data Analysis and a score of other corporate skills.
Michael Couris, MD
Michael Couris MD is a native of Kingston, New York and a 1988 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an SB in Biology. He attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine on a US Navy Health Professions Scholarship, graduating in 1992. From there, Dr. Couris interned in General Surgery at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He trained as a Naval Flight Surgeon and then was assigned to the Third Marine Aircraft Wing in Tustin, CA. He deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard USS Peleliu and in Kuwait supporting Operation Southern Watch. Following a residency in ophthalmology in San Diego, he finished his Navy career in Portsmouth, VA. Dr. Couris returned to San Diego where he opened his now 20 year-old private practice at Vision Care and Correction of San Diego. Dr. Couris has assumed leadership roles in organized medicine and currently serves as the CFO of Mercy Physicians Medical Group and as President of Scripps Mercy Physician Partners.
David Oakes
Dr. Richard Mowry
Dr. Richard Mowry is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon based in Chula Vista, California. He holds a BA from the University of California, San Diego and a DMD from Oral Roberts University, School of Dentistry. He attended residency at University Medical Center, Fresno, California (previously known as Valley Medical Center) where he received Residency Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Mowry runs a private practice in Chula Vista and has served as a board member of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons multiple times, in addition to several other leadership positions at related boards and societies in California. Among other groups, he is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy- Dental Philanthropic Organization.
Advisory Board
Our Professional Advisory Board has extensive experience in medical practice, medical device development, blood, plasma and stem cell use, blood banking and transfusion medicine. They advise FreMon Scientific on quality control, features, customer use, requirements and practical applications.
Dr. Theodore T. Sand
Dr. Sand is VP of Research & Regulatory Affairs for Greyledge Technologies of Vail, Co. He has extensive experience in evaluation and acquisition of blood science technology, has 12 patents and 13 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Sand received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Minnesota, served a postdoc at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, Ca and received his BS at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Shreya Sood
Dr. Sood is a pediatric radiologist and instructor at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School with clinical, teaching and research experience. She enjoys combining principles within medicine with the biotech industry. She also participates in projects dealing with healthcare innovation and volunteers in international outreach. She is involved in quality initiatives, healthcare-related consulting roles, and offers second opinion reads. She received her M.D. from Yale School of Medicine and a B.A. from Cornell University.
Dr. Rania Sharma
Dr. Sharma has more than 15 years of experience in the blood banking, cord blood banking, stem cell processing and general medical arenas. She is the co-founder of StemHealth, Cairo, Egypt. She was Project Manager for Stem-Health, Athens, Greece; Regional Marketing Representative for MAK-System in Paris, France and marketing manager for the Egyptian National Blood Transfusion Services, Cairo, Egypt. She received her medical degree from the Kasr El-Aini Medical School, Cairo University and her MBA from the Hult International Business School. She resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is fluent in Arabic, French, English, Hindi and Spanish.
Dr. Yael Shechter
Ph.D, Biochemistry
Dr. Yael Shechter is the former head of the prestigious Magen David Adom Blood Services, the Israeli equivalent of the American Red Cross. She completed a PhD in Biochemistry at Iowa State University. She went on to become a faculty member at the Rapport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion in Israel, in the Biochemistry department. She also taught at the Georgetown University Biochemistry department, and then moved back to Israel, to become the director of the blood bank at Haifa’s Ramban Health Care Campus, one of the country’s largest hospitals. Her long-term directorship included a unit for therapeutic Plasmapheresis and stem cell collection and freezing, and a laboratory for platelet Immunology. After a 26-year career at Rambam, Dr. Shechter become the head of Magen David Adom Blood Services.
Dr. Roscoe Moore
Former Asst. US Surgeon General and Rear Admiral, US Public Health Service (Ret.)
Until his retirement, Dr. Roscoe M. Moore, Jr. served with the US Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) and was responsible for global development support within the Office of the Secretary, HHS, with primary emphasis on Continental Africa and other countries. He was the principal liaison person between the HHS and Ministries of Health in Africa.
Dr. Moore received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University); his Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan; and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University. He was awarded the Doctor of Science degree (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his distinguished public health career by Tuskegee University.
Dr. Moore was a career officer within the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) entering with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and rising to the rank of Assistant United States Surgeon General (Rear Admiral, USPHS) within the Immediate Office of the Secretary, HHS. He was selected as Chief Veterinary Medical Officer, USPHS, by Surgeon General C. Everett Koop.
Genie Holmes
Department of Defense Certified Program Manager
Genie Holmes is a seasoned Command and Corporate Strategist with over 14 years of experience in the Department of Defense. She specializes in satellite communications, armed forces synthesis, and Congressional interactions. Ms. Holmes is a DoD Certified Program Manager with a focus in Acquisition and International Relations. She is passionate about protecting national security and is dedicated to advancing satellite communication development within the DoD in conjunction with NATO partner nations.
